On the one hand, it is pretty great that the sun is shining and the temperature is in the mid-sixties. I have thrown the baseball around with the ten-year-old in the back yard and gotten out on my bike, and now we have some windows open in the house for the first time in months. That’s all awesome.

On the other hand, it is the third of March and I live in Massachusetts. There is no way it should be the warm out. When I moved here fifteen years ago, there was consistently snow on the ground at least through the end of March and sometimes into early April. This year, we have had barely any snow and I can count on one hand the number of weeks when the temperature has routinely dropped below freezing.

It is hard to feel excited and happy about warm weather like this when I know that it is part of an overall climate trend that is likely to be catastrophic.
