I have so little tolerance for the people who are still upset about the decision to decanonify the old Star Wars Extended Universe.

For one thing, all of those stories are still there. Disney didn’t steal your childhood; if you want to go read and enjoy all eight books in the X-Wing series, or the Tales From Jabba’s Palace stories, you still can. Claims that “They took all that from us!” make zero sense.

For another thing, a lot of those books just really weren’t all that good, and they were a continuity nightmare. Sure, the first Thrawn trilogy was great, but did any of these sourpusses actually read the Hand Of Thrawn books or junk like the Legacy Of the Force series? During my bookstore days in the late 1990s, we had shelves and shelves of this stuff and most of it was total crap.

If you had told me back then that I would be getting high-quality TV series a few times a year with a consistent story and guiding vision holding it all together, I would have been over the moon. We are living in a golden age of Star Wars stories and I am loving every minute of it.
