Apple Classical is okay.

I struck by the degree to which the reactions I’ve seen today to Apple’s new classical music app seem to cluster around two opposite ends of the spectrum: either “It’s a game-changer, I love it!” or “This is garbage, how could Apple have screwed this up so badly?”

I’ve been poking around at it on and off and it seems… fine? It’s not great, it’s not terrible; it has all the classical music in a single, relatively uncluttered place. There is absolutely nothing about the app that seems to merit the extreme opinions I have seen. Maybe all the people who think it’s okay are just keeping that to themselves because it’s not worth shouting about online?

I feel like we are all sitting here on the internet trained to have immediate strong reactions to everything. It really is not necessary.
