I love the thing on the Internet where someone asks for book or TV or movie recommendations and then a thousand people chime in suggesting books, TV shows, and movies that everyone in the world has seen, and also that hundreds of people in the same thread have already recommend to the original poster.

I know—It sounds like a petty complaint, but I feel like it is illustrative of a bigger problem with online dialog, that being the tendency to enter into a conversation without much attention paid to the context or what has already been said. Seems like we would all do well to stay quiet and listen for a bit before voicing our thoughts.
