The kid has come home from school with lots of questions about The Blair Witch Project, and I am struggling to convey how crazy it was to watch that movie in the theater when it first came out. I saw it in a packed theater on opening night, and the place was dead silent for nearly the entire run-time. It was that intense.

I’m also having a hard time explaining the buzz around the movie before it came out. All he can think of is teaser trailers and people posting about it on social media and YouTube.

No, it wasn’t like that, I say. It was a bunch of random threads on weirdo discussion forums. What are those? Well, kinda like Reddit, I guess, except they were smaller and there were tons of them, all run by different people.
