Normally, I welcome change, but...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

As is my habit, I checked the National Weather Service website for my local weather forecast this morning. Their forecasts are much more detailed than the crummy Weather Channel site, they’re more accurate, and I’m not subjected to incessant banner and pop-up advertising. Also, it’s nice to see a concrete example of my tax dollars being put to good use.

So I go to the site this morning, and I notice a link near the top of the page for “proposed changes to the weather forecast icons.” Maybe it doesn’t matter that much in the grand scheme of things, but I hate the proposed new icons. They look like they’re designed for third-graders; in other words, they look like they should be on USA Today’s website. Specifically, I point you to Example Forecast #6. As Craig so aptly pointed out, the only thing that could possible make this icon worse would be the inclusion of the “Old Man Winter”-style puffy-cheeked blowing face.

I have registered my sharp disapproval with the NOAA via my submitted comments.
