The Abandoned Randall Park Mall in North Randall, OH: Everything Must Go:

The mall’s 9,000 parking spaces and convenient access to Interstate 480 created an unanticipated problem, though: car theft. After his father-in-law’s car was stolen from Randall Park Mall, Charles Johnson invented the famous anti-theft device known as “The Club”.

Even after all the years I lived in Cleveland (and the plenty of times I visited this mall in the early Nineties), I never knew about its connection to The Club!

I never had one myself—who would have bothered stealing a 1981 VW Rabbit?—but they were pretty ubiquitous back then.
