A conversation I repeatedly have with my kids is how, while it it perfectly fine to say “I don’t like X,” you had better at least have thought it through pretty well and be ready to make a strong argument if you’re going to say “X is bad.”

Generally, though, it’s better to just stick with “I don’t like X.” Even better than that—and a formulation I have been trying to get myself into the habit of using more frequently—is “It’s not for me.”

Unless we are talking about beets, which are objectively terrible and you are a bad person for liking them.
