The Ninth Metal

After reading a review somewhere this past week of Benjamin Percy’s forthcoming book, I checked out his last book The Ninth Metal from the library this morning. It is quite the page-turner, and I am already over halfway through it.

What I can’t decide yet is whether it is actually a good book. The plot is compelling and Percy knows how to string the sentences together and hit all the right beats. However, the characters are all pretty thin, and I am not sure there is much story to hold it all together. The book reads like it was written to get a Netflix deal.

Apparently the new book is something of a sequel, and the third in the trilogy will be out later this year.
