This is season 1, episode 4, and we are reading Chapter 4 of The Great God Pan, an 1894 novella by Arthur Machen.
Mr. Villiers goes to visit Clarke and tells him of his terrifying visit to the home of his old friend Herbert. He shows Clarke and picture of Herbert’s wife, and Clark has a startling and disturbing realization.
