What does musical marginalization look like? Consider a country of almost 300 million people with a rich musical tradition, but when you go to the Bandcamp tag, 9 out of 10 albums shown are collections of sound effects.

I mean, maybe? But this sort of thing seems more like what happens when we force creative art to compete on mass-consumption platforms.

We go on and on about “peak TV,” but the viewership of the prestige dramas that exemplify the genre is dwarfed by that for whatever iteration of NCIS is currently making the rounds.
