I was just reminded by the radio that Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion came out on this day in 2009.

I have tried listening to Animal Collective a bunch of times, but never they do nothing for me. I find their music to be simultaneously cloying and overly intellectual, like they are trying way too hard for a good Pitchfork review. I guess they have at least been successful in that regard.

As with any art, though, your mileage may vary. There seem to be no shortage of people who like the band, and especially this album.
