I just noticed this tidbit in one the New York Times’ endlessly scrolling “Live Updates” feeds:

On what basis can the Vice President deploy troops? Isn’t the President the one who is supposed to be doing this.

The practical answer is that Trump is a delusional narcissist who gave up doing any of the actual job of being President long ago. Nonetheless, this move seems weird and makes me wonder if something is afoot here.
