There is a new recording out today on Deutsche Grammaphon of Daniel Barenboim conducting all four Brahms symphonies:
I just got to the end of Symphony No. 1 and am starting No.2. The performance and recording are excellent. I will have to listen to it more, but I think this may replace my previous favorite version.
