I had my first experience with an Alexa device over the weekend, and it confirmed my suspicion that they are horrible and I never want one.

Even if I were to set aside the privacy and security concerns (which I would not), it just seems like a bad interface. I know voice-command stuff is supposed to be the new hotness, and I know that everyone says the devices and technology we have now—Alexa, Siri, Cortana, etc.—are really still in their infancy and will get much better very quickly. Nonetheless, having to tell some supposedly AI-enabled thing to do what I want is clunky and annoying.
