I am particularly skeptical of exhortations to delete Facebook when they come from people like celebrities and big-name tech personalities who already have broad followings outside of the platform. Yes, Facebook is gross and shady, and it is a corrosive influence in our culture and politics, but for a lot of people, it is also a critical means of making and keeping connections outside of their immediate physical proximity. If deleting Facebook works for you, great—go for it! But be aware that not everyone shares your situation and priorities.
